URGENT APPEAL TO THE INTERNATIONAL YOUTH AND STUDENT COMMUNITY

URGENT APPEAL
March 24, 2010

RELEASE ARRESTED PUP STUDENT LEADERS

Ensuing protests by the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) students against the proposed 1666% tuition increase by the PUP Administration started on Thursday, March 18, led to the arrest of five students of PUP today.

Arrested are Cheyser Soriano, PUP main campus Central Student Council President, Judy Anne Fabito and Pi Em Canela , League of Filipino Students members, Fennin Louise Umagat, College of Lanuages and Lingustics Vice President, and Abriel Mansilungan of Kabataan Partylist. From Station 8 in Sta. Mesa, they were brought to Western Police District later today.

The arrested student leaders were leading PUP students in a protest march today towards the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to protest PUP's callous super-hike announcement without consultation with the students when they were blocked by police for alleged robbery of the chairs which the students took out from PUP campus to manifest their situation.

PUP administration announced the tuition hike informally and only through its website informing that the incoming freshmen students of PUP will be charged 200 (1$us = 45 pesos) peso per unit instead of the current 12 peso per unit starting the next semester on June subject to the approval of the Board of Regents (BOR). The BOR meeting is set on March 29 which the students criticized as mere formalization of a rail-roaded deal.

On Thursday, March 18, angry students of PUP Sta. Mesa campus threw dilapidated chairs from the fourth floor in one of the buildings inside campus to demonstrate their disgust at the government's neglect of the PUP education situation despite its being the biggest state university in the country. The next day, hundreds of students joined the protest actions inside PUP, threw again decripit chairs and desks and set them ablaze.

“PUP is supposed to be the most accessible university with its P12 tuition fee. What would happen now to our poor students and high school graduates? They have nowhere to go to,” said Cheyser Soriano, student council president.

Students criticize state abandonement of its responsibility with its decreasing allocation to education.Similar had also been imposed by state universities like the University of the Philippines increasing by 300% in tuition two years ago.

PUP's budget this year was decreased by 43 million pesos despite its almost 60, 000 student total population in 21 campuses all over the country. PUP is known to be the university where most of the poorest families send their sons and daughters.

However, Dr. Dante Guevarra, PUP President defends the 1666% tuition hike proposal and says that students should contribute by paying higher tuition because of the budget slash.

The student leaders vowed to continue the protests in all PUP campuses until the PUP administration withdraws the proposal. Today's pronouncement of the CHED warning PUP on hasty and un-consulted tuition hike did not balk student leaders in their plans for massive protest action on March 29 during the supposed BOR meeting.

"The arrests done today on the prodding of the PUP administration is a shameless and desperate action of PUP administration to weaken our resolve. We will not bow down to whatever harassment case the administration will unjustly press against us because we want the CHED and the whole country to watch the dilapidated chairs as symbol of our education in PUP . Tuloy ang laban! (Onwards with the struggle)," Cheyser said.

PUP students and supporters staged an indignation rally and vigil tonight in front of the WPD and vowed to stay there until the release of their peers. They were held for robbery counts.

Onwards with the Struggle, NO to 1666% Tuition Hike
No to Commercialization of Education,
Higher State Subsidy to Education!

Villar vs. Noy2

I am a member of a Political Clan nung una nayayamot ako kasi they are expecting to much from me. but when i read the Ethics in Politics by Jovito Salonga.
Trapo is good. as long as they practice being a statesman. Claro M. Recto is a Trapo yet he is a statesman, Senator Tanada is a Trapo yet he's the father of freedom of Assembly, Jose Laurel is a trapo yet he became a statesman in his own rights. I don't support noynoy but i wont vote for villar either i really hate his campaign ads the fact that Villar ads by nature is a fallacy can villar Define the meaning of Poverty? And you don't need to experience those things like taking a bath in a sea full of garbages to feel what it is like to be in poverty because what we are experiencing right now is poverty itself. And we can't just stop it dramatically. I admire Villar because of what he has been through in his rags to riches life. But the thing is, you can't instantly stop poverty and things doesn't change dramatically. It takes time. Galing at talino? Yeah. You also need those to be an excellent leader.

Villar is a Trapo by his own rights, He used his status quo to invest un nga lang masmalala at mas hayop! My dad as a judge handle a case in regards to the "Malicious Land Grabbing of Villar Corporations" yet he is still impartial. My great great grandpa is a well known critics of Roxas Administration yet he believe that Roxas in one of the Abliest President in the Philippines without him the Philippines Reconstruction effort is a mess . His Father is a well known senator as the head of the Lofty opposition against the New Society of Marcos.

A Political thought of a 12 years old kid

My Political thought
“Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. a soul generated by love. “
- Martin Luther King, Jr.

“If a man is called to be a streetsweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause and say, "Here lived a great streetsweeper who did his job well."
- Martin Luther King, Jr.

This is the quotation of Martin Luther King Jr. that I won’t forget. Since I was in 5th Grade I appreciate Martin Luther King speeches and writings I was astonished by his charisma and will he wants a free society so am I. My father always tells me that Martin Luther is a great guy a mover of peace and justice. As My Political thoughts is connected with Martin Luther King’s Political thoughts and Idea maybe I’m just a young Liberal who believe that Filipinos can be Filipinos on their own. I want a society free from nothing but bonded by the unity of culture, faith and tradition. A new revolution that would start from the true Filipino! A man with Heart, Courage and Love for our country. Filipino now a day’s developed the apathetic sense of duty they blamed corruption as the main cause of poverty but the problem is the lack of love to the country. Revolution must start to all the classes of the Society the True Filipino from the Elites, the Middle Class and even the Poor I believe that we the True Filipino who have love for their country would be successful on defending our Democracy an authentic Democracy that are based on our culture and tradition.
The Philippines must be a Democratic-Republican state that will be based on Filipino Democracy and not based on American Democracy because if our government were based on American thoughts it won’t be successful. Philippines have a different Political and Democratic arena and an American way of governance would bring a nothing but confusion to our Democratic Cause is it proven by your generation that American Democracy here in the Philippines is not successful it just brings confusion and infamy to our unity we must have a Constitution based on Filipino culture and tradition. We must create a New Democracy called the true Philippine Democracy that would value our Country and its citizen and would focus on what I called “Filipino first Benefits”. This Filipino Democracy would value the role of Opposition the one who checks the Majority as the Majority respects the opinion of the Minority, We will retain the idea of bicameral Law Making Body and all the bill would be open to public as media would actively observe the movement of the lawmakers, it must be open to the Public as Media became impartial and great. The Government must condemn extra judicial killings so as the Media would be strong enough to criticize the government yet respect the role of the government on Nation building, the Media must realize the meaning of being an impartial sector that would appreciate and check the wrong doing of the government. The Senate must be reformed; the house of senate would be a representation of the people in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao because I believe that it would be very helpful to our development. Strike must be appreciated; the Law Makers and the Government must listen to address the issues of this strike.
So the Filipino would start to value our Democracy and this would create Harmony, Harmony that would last forever and because of the Filipino Democracy in the Philippines it would play a great role in our neighboring countries, so hence we are again ready to have an Economic and Trade Agreement to our Neighboring Countries. Philippines Government must invest on our neighboring countries before entering a trade relationship with other states in the world, Filipino Elites must be a wise investors and Businessman that would help the country as they prioritize Investment here in the Philippines and as an exchange Philippines Government would protect Filipino Businessman as they protect Philippines Economy and now we are ready for a New trade relationship in the world, We must prioritize the International Relationship as we prioritize our Armed Forced and because of Filipino Democracy the Armed Force would have morale of a Tiger and a heart of a Pigeon the protector of Filipino democracy yet we would retain that our Armed Forces would be a defense force but it will became one of the modern Armed Force in Asia and in the World.
Everybody can be great because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love. It would happen the Philippines would reform its Education in Authentic Philippine Democracy as it supports a modern education based on our own culture and tradition yet we would still value the use of English to be a globally competitive State. Philippine Government would prioritize Education as she creates a Free Education from Elementary to Secondary level, the Government Owned University would be virtually free University for the masses, Armed Force Conscription and Police Conscription will be supported and would generate income for the Filipino, so hence the Government would help the Filipino Poor yet protecting Filipino Democracy and reduced the crime rate in the country. This new professionals will be supported by a Filipino Owned Businesses as they would work for the Filipino cause a new Filipino Republic. And because of the idea the poverty rate here in the Philippines would be dramatically reduces. I’m not against with the Workers working abroad their taxes are essential for the Philippine Growth yet Medical workers must have a Mandatory Servitude to our Health Sector for the period of 5 years until our Health Sector would became one of the best in the world.
In able to be successful the Constitution must be based on Filipino Democracy. It would prioritize the Bill of Rights and the abolishment of Political Warlordism including establishment of Political Dynasty. The new Constitution must be taught in High school and Elementary to Developed their sense of Love to the Country. Filipino Minority must be protected, and Discrimination must be penalized as the Filipino Democracy and Government would protect every citizen here in the Philippines. The separation of the church and state must be observed as the Law makers won’t be influenced by the church comments. Law makers must promised laws that are necessary for the Filipino People Health Bills, Reproductive Health bill, and Divorced must be legalized for the Protection of Woman and Children.
This is the society that I’m looking for. And this is my Political Thought a Government for the Filipino and the Democracy created for the Filipino by a true Filipino as Filipino hopes for the a clean and honest government Filipino must Love their country as the Youth must be Patriot for Liberalism and the Adult must be a conservative for the Government as they became Patriot for the Philippines.

essay by a korean from the philippines By: Jaeyoun Kim

Filipinos always complain about the corruption in the Philippines. Do you really think the corruption is the problem of the Philippines? I do not think so. I strongly believe that the problem is
the lack of love for the Philippines.

Let me first talk about my country, Korea. It might help you understand my point. After the Korean War, South Korea was one of the poorest countries in the world. Koreans had to start from scratch
because entire country was destroyed after the Korean War, and we had
no natural resources.

Koreans used to talk about the Philippines, for Filipinos were very rich in Asia. We envy Filipinos. Koreans really wanted to be well off like Filipinos. Many Koreans died of famine. My father & brother
also died because of famine. Korean government was very corrupt and is
still very corrupt beyond your imagination, but Korea was able to
develop dramatically because Koreans really did their best for the
common good with their heart burning with patriotism.

Koreans did not work just for themselves but also for their neighborhood and country. Education inspired young men with the spirit of patriotism. 40 years ago, President Park took over the government to
reform Korea. He tried to borrow money from other countries, but it was
not possible to get a loan and attract a foreign investment because the
economic situation of South Korea was so bad. Korea had only three
factories. So, President Park sent many mine workers and nurses to
Germany so that they could send money to Korea to build a factory. They
had to go through horrible experience.

In 1964, President Park visited Germany to borrow money. Hundred of Koreans in Germany came to the airport to welcome him and cried there as they saw the President Park. They asked to him, ‘President, when can
we be well off?’ That was the only question everyone asked to him.
President Park cried with them and promised them that Korea would be
well off if everyone works hard for Korea, and the President of Germany
got the strong impression on them and lent money to Korea. So,
President Park was able to build many factories in Korea. He always
asked Koreans to love their country from their heart.

Many Korean scientists and engineers in the USA came back to Korea to help developing country because they wanted their country to be well off. Though they received very small salary, they did their best for
Korea. They always hoped that their children would live in well off
country. My parents always brought me to the places where poor and
physically handicapped people live. They wanted me to understand their
life and help them. I also worked for Catholic Church when I was in the
army. The only thing I learned from Catholic Church was that we have to
love our neighborhood. And, I have loved my neighborhood. Have you
cried for the Philippines? I have cried for my country several times. I
also cried for the Philippines because of so many poor people. I have
been to the New Bilibid prison. What made me sad in the prison were the
prisoners who do not have any love for their country. They go to mass
and work for Church. They pray everyday.

However, they do not love the Philippines. I talked to two prisoners at the maximum-security compound, and both of them said that they would leave the Philippines right after they are released from the prison.
They said that they would start a new life in other countries and never
come back to the Philippines.

Many Koreans have a great love for Korea so that we were able to share our wealth with our neighborhood. The owners of factory and company were distributed their profit to their employees fairly so that
employees could buy what they needed and saved money for the future and
their children.

When I was in Korea, I had a very strong faith and wanted to be a priest. However, when I came to the Philippines, I completely lost my faith. I was very confused when I saw many unbelievable situations in
the Philippines. Street kids always make me sad, and I see them
everyday. The Philippines is the only Catholic country in Asia, but
there are too many poor people here. People go to church every Sunday
to pray, but nothing has been changed.

My parents came to the Philippines last week and saw this situation. They told me that Korea was much poorer than the present Philippines when they were young. They are so sorry that there are so many beggars
and street kids. When we went to Pasangjan, I forced my parents to take
a boat because it would fun. However, they were not happy after taking
a boat. They said that they would not take the boat again because they
were sympathized the boatmen, for the boatmen were very poor and had a
small frame. Most of people just took a boat and enjoyed it. But, my
parents did not enjoy it because of love for them.

My mother who has been working for Catholic Church since I was very young told me that if we just go to mass without changing ourselves, we are not Catholic indeed. Faith should come with action. She added that
I have to love Filipinos and do good things for them because all of us
are same and have received a great love from God. I want Filipinos to
love their neighborhood and country as much as they love God so that
the Philippines will be well off.
I am sure that love is the keyword, which Filipinos should remember. We cannot change the sinful
structure at once. It should start from person. Love must start in
everybody, in a small scale and have to grow. A lot of things happen if
we open up to love. Let’s put away our prejudices and look at our
worries with our new eyes.
I discover that every person is worthy to be loved. Trust in love,
because it makes changes possible. Love changes you and me. It changes
people, contexts and relationships. It changes the world. Please love
your neighborhood and country.
Jesus Christ said that whatever we do to others we do to Him. In the Philippines, there is God for people
who are abused and abandoned. There is God who is crying for love. If
you have a child, teach them how to love the Philippines. Teach them
why they have to love their neighborhood and country. You already know
that God also will be very happy if you love others. That’s all I
really want to ask you Filipinos.

TRAPO sa mata ng isang bata part. 1

“Maybe I can’t vote but I’m conviced with Gilbert Teodoro! Education must be revitalize, and Poor Shall be protected.

Last Friday was a wonderful day. Gilberto "Gibo" Teodoro and Senator Richard Gordon attend a presidential forum in De La Salle University- Dasmarinas. I wonder if they are honest and clean! Oh well based on their track record they are clean and sufficient enough to became the next Philippines President, but I wonder how Gilbert Teodoro rule when he became the next Philippine President rumor says that maybe he will became a puppet of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo or a Puppet of a Business Tycoon Danding Cojuanco, but ohh well He and Noy-Noy are Niece of Danding Cojuanco so maybe he's not a puppet of the business Tycoon and a Warlord of NPC party. Richard Gordon on the other hand are proud and bold to say that he's not a Trapo based on his achievement ohh well he's a member of Political Clan and based on my observation a Liberal Trapo.
Their Platform are good and fabulous if you are a listener not a crituc you would say that Gibo and Gordon has a Good Platform but i would like to insist that "Every Platform are good, but those Platform are just beautiful sometimes it does not happen."
Gilbert Teodoro is a member of Lakas-Kampi-CMD a Big Political Party that can be the largest Political winner in 2010 but face the reality man! The Boat would sunk! The Large Boat Would Sink! He's a member of well largest but the most unpopular party in the Philippines, while Richard Gordon have a large and sufficient "Volunteer" not machinery.
I also want to give comment to the "One Revolution Kilos Kabataan Movement." The Old Granny is right "One Revolution" is a Partisan name and maybe influenced by the Ruling Government in Cavite, the Liberals of Cavite headed by our beloved Governor coined Revolution that would obviously focus on Caviteno Political Idea before Economic, Industrial and Agricultural Activity. To the concervative like Granny and offcourse like me "One Revolution" (based on posters found in EPZA, Trece Martires and my beloved hometown Indang) that One Revolution project have and image of the Vice Governor of Cavite and the Board Member of District 2 of Cavite. I guess One Revolution means one vote to the officer endorsed by the Governor.
“Maybe I can’t vote but I’m conviced with Gilbert Teodoro! Education must be revitalize, and Poor Shall be protected. I really like his Platform and his good looks” – Christopher Bautista.
I strongly agree with Christopher Bautista the Gentleman from Lakas CMD would be the chance for us. The youth must actively participate with the cause of Gilbert Teodoro. His Flatform Rocks and it will help the so called Philippine goodhope!

The Laptop Quest: dream of a New Apple Notebook

I'm wondering if everyone dreams a MacBook I'm aiming to have one! and i wish my mac book is this mega $2400.00 wew almost 140000 pesos do you think my parents can buy this Laptop for a 13 year old kiddo How I wish, here's the feature of the Laptop i want!

Apple 17" MacBook Pro Notebook

(2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile, 4GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, DVD±RW DL, Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard, 17" LCD - MPN: MC226LLA)

the keyboard has media control keys located along the function key row. The keyboard has a springy yet solid feel to it, and offers a bit more tactile and audible feedback than early MacBook models. Unfortunately, you won’t find the touted MultiTouch trackpad on any MacBook. If you really have the need to pinch, swipe, and rotate on the trackpad, you have to turn to the MacBook Pro Notebook.
Most of the other components in the new MacBooks are the same as their older counterparts. All models have a 13.3-inch glossy widescreen display with a 1,280 by 800 pixel resolution, built-in iSight camera, built-in stereo speakers and microphone, analog and digital audio input and output, one FireWire 400 and two USB 2.0 ports, 802.11n-enabled AirPort Extreme, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, and Gigabit Ethernet. The $1,099 MacBook has a 24x slot-loading combo drive, while the other two MacBooks have an 8x slot-loading double-layer SuperDrive. One thing you won’t find in the box anymore is the Apple Remote, which is now a $19 add-on. Software-wise, the MacBooks include OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and iLife ‘08.

Ohh! well the Macbook is HOT! HOT! HOT! and the price is super Crap! for my young age. I wish my parents are rich!

Turn off! Jahe ka kasi! 5turn offs

Everyone reads too much into things at the beginning of a relationship. Even the dude who pretends he couldn't be more casual. It's natural -- we're trying to mind-read our dates, gauge intentions, figure out if our new flame would rather be doing her nails than listening to our college stories during a nice night out on the town. So you have to be careful with us guys -- even though we pretend not to be so sensitive -- and realize what signal you're sending.
Here are five that say: I really really like you... for anyone else but me.
More on Dating from Glamour:

1. The Coffee Invite
"Let's totally have coffee at 2:15 on Wednesday!" Coffee? On a weekday? At such a precise time? That's when you meet your friend's little sister who wants to ask you for career advice.
2. The Group Invite
"Me and a bunch of my friends are going to be at XX bar, why don't you stop by?" When we hear that you're bringing your friends along, we assume you don't want to be alone with us.
3. The Inappropriate Attire
"I just came from the gym." It's no problem if you don't dress like you're on your way to accept the academy award for best actress, but if you're wearing sweatpants, we're assuming you don't want us to think about you in any sensual way.
4. The Excuse Caused by Your Insecurity
"I'm soooooo tired." This is the absolute worst. I've had women say that to me when they've actually been interested and later admit that they were just worried that they seemed boring and were making an excuse. But what we hear is: I'm laying the groundwork to go home as soon as possible.
5. The Outpouring About Your Ex
"I'm just getting out of a really intense relationship." We don't care if this is true, and we know that even people just emerging from coupledom can get involved with new people. But we don't want to spend our first moments alone together hearing about how intense your old relationship was. Not the mental picture that makes us giddly

at eto pa....
